ABOUT FloBiz Android Developer Hiring Challenge 

FloBiz is looking to add kickass Android Developers to the team to work on the most interesting tech challenges to help Indian SMBs grow their business.

Challenge Format:

• Online challenge - 1 Android Application Building Question based on Kotlin and Native Android 
• Duration - 8 hours 

Eligibility:

• YOE - 0-5 years of industry experience
• Skills -  Native Android, Kotlin, MVVM, offline storage and caching, Rest APIs, Coroutines, etc.
• Tech Stacks- Native Android, Kotlin, Firebase, Realm, Coroutines, Flow, MVVM, Retrofit, View Binding, Navigation Component, Firestone, Dynamic links, Dagger

• Architect our offline first experience to empower seamless offline transactions across our mobile and desktop platforms 
• Scale our payments module to power up to $10Bn monthly transactions and help in achieving our first major milestone towards building the largest SMB Neobank in India
• You will envision and develop features that are highly reliable and fault-tolerant to deliver a superior customer experience for more than 6M users
• Design and engineer our pricing module to achieve our ambitious SAAS revenue targets

Responsibilities -

• Translate designs and wireframes into high quality, high performant, reusable and maintainable code
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, product managers, designers, etc.) to define, design and ship new features 
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance, ensuring our applications run smoothly across a wide array of devices, including low-end mobile devices and across varied form factors 
• Develop empathy with end customers, measure product usage patterns, suggest and incorporate inputs in the product development lifecycle
• Be agile and continue to learn, grow, and help us tackle brand new challenges as we build for Bharat

Brownie Points if you - 

• Have published at least one original Android application or have contributed to any open source project
• Have experience with any NoSQL database and designing schema
• Have prior experience of working with a FinTech startup

GUIDELINES

1. You will be provided with a problem statement for which you have to build a functional mobile app.

2. Each problem comprises the following:

   a. Mandatory feature sets that you should build

   b. List of good-to-have features, which are not mandatory but will give you extra marks if built

   c. Guidelines to solve the problem

   d. Wireframe diagrams

3. After you have built your application, you must do the following:

   a. Zip the APK file

   b. Upload the APK file via the Upload option provided at the end of the page

4. The submissions are evaluated manually by an expert. The evaluation parameters include the following:

   a. Functionality of the code

   b. Design aesthetics

   c. Usability of the application

   d. Using the right tech stack - Native Android with Kotlin

   e. Architecture followed

   f. Code performance (e.g. concurrency) 

5. The evaluation of submissions can take up to a week's time.

Android Challenge

1. Where will the challenge take place?

This challenge is an online challenge.

2. Will I receive a reminder notification before the challenge begins?

You will receive a reminder e-mail 3 hours before the challenge begins.

3. How do I participate in this challenge?

To participate in this challenge, do the following:

a. Visit this page after start date and time

c. Click the Participate in Challenge button

4. How does the time limit work?

We follow an open time-limit format. In this format, you will have the following:

• Challenge duration

  • Duration between the start and end time of the challenge

  • For example, 24 hours (6 p.m. on Wednesday up to 6 p.m. on Thursday)

• Challenge-completion window

  • Time within which you must complete the challenge

  • For example, within 12 hours (starting any time after 6 p.m. on Wednesday)

  • After you start the challenge, you cannot pause it

5. What are the build specifications?

• Min. SDK version: 4.x

• Preferred IDE: Android Studio

6. How are Android task-based problems evaluated?

The submissions are evaluated manually by an expert. The evaluation parameteers include the following:

• Functionality of the code

• Design aesthetics

• Usability of the application

The evaluation of submissions can take up to a week's time.

7. When will I receive the results? Will I be informed if I am shortlisted for the job?

Within a week of submission, the shortlisted names will be added to the Announcements section of the Hiring Challenge page.

However, being shortlisted does not guarantee a job. There will be further evaluations based on the company's requirements.

8. What will happen in case of there is an issue with my computer or Internet connection?

If there is an issue with your computer or your Internet connection, you will not lose your previously submitted answers. They will be saved on HackerEarth's servers. You can log in again and continue coding from where you stopped.

However, the timer will continue running, which is why it is advised that you ensure that your computer/Internet connection is working properly before you begin the challenge.

9. Is it possible to change my submission after I have submitted a task?

You can edit and submit the solution to a question that you can view and edit any number of times by clicking Submit Answer and Continue. When you click this button, your past submissions will be replaced. However, you will not have completed the test till you click Finish.

You will not be able to change your submission in the following cases:

* When you press Finish

* When you run out of time

Note: Some tests have timed sections. After the time limit has been reached, you will not be able to revisit questions in that section.
